These wonderful honeybees are something I remember so well growing up on a farm. My Dad kept a few hives to support our apple orchard. The blossoms on the apple trees were a welcome to spring which I always cherish as my most favorite time of year. The beautiful colors and fresh air of spring with the friendly buzzing of honeybees, a most valuable asset in the circle of life.
Only the female bees, called worker bees, forage for food. Each worker bee lives for just five to six weeks, and produces about a twelfth of a teaspoon of honey.
