When you hear and recognize his mighty hoot, this amazing large owl will inspire you! He has gorgeous eyes that glow with beauty. Native to Oregon, the Great Horned Owl is a personal favorite of mine.
Duly named, great horned owls (bubo virginianus) have tufts of feathers on top of their heads that give the appearance of horns. These feathers can be erected or pulled in close to the head and are used in both communication and camouflage.
