Oh that sweet loons "whippoorwill" sound echoing across the peaceful mountain lake. Times like this I've been fortunate to witness while canoeing on lakes in Alaska. Gods wonders are so incredibly amazing. Bringing peace to the soul. I hope this painting brings somehow to you what I heard and experienced.
The common loon has at least six distinct calls, including the wail, tremolo, yodel and hoot. Adult loons commonly hoot when communicating with their nearby mate or their young.
