Bald eagles (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) use their keen eyesight for hunting prey. Like some other animals, eagles are fully equipped with a transparent third eyelid (nictitating membrane) that protects the eye, keeping it moist and clean, as they fly with their eyelids open.
